Patuxent Kennels is a small hobby kennel located between the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay in CalvertCounty, Maryland. We breed healthy, well tempered English Labrador Retrievers. Our dogs are bred to have the traditional stocky build with blocky heads. All of our litters are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC)
We have recently entered back into the conformation ring after a 19 year hiatus.
We usually have 2-4 litters a year. One benefit to having one of our dogs is that we board our puppies when their families go away and cannot bring their dog along with them. All of our dogs are OFA certified for hips, elbows, hearts and eyes.
My veterinarian, Harold Schmeiser, D.V.M. is our greatest advocate. He constantly refers people to us who are looking for a healthy Labrador with a great temperament. We are at a point in our business where people who bought puppies from us over a decade ago, are calling back to get a second lab after theirs passed over to the Rainbow Bridge. Word of mouth, or seeing one of our dogs out and about with their families, seems to direct many people our way in their search for the perfect dog.
Our dogs are sold on a limited registration and come with a complete health guarantee from any genetic defects. We are proud to say that in 27 years of breeding dogs, we have not had any reason to replace a dog.
Most of our clients are only looking for a pet; however, our dogs could easily do well in the conformation ring, obedience competitions or out in the field.
